Something's bothering Hodgins and Angela wants to know what it is.

I love the moment in A Boy in the Bush when Angela confronts Hodgins about his anger management technique. Not to mention the fact that she looks so naughty when he snaps at the rubber band on his wrist. :)



Angela knew something was wrong as soon as that rubber band appeared on his wrist again.

Since she'd figured it out before, he tried to do it discreetly but even if she couldn't see his hands, the telltale snap and the glazed over look to his eyes was all she needed to figure out that he was upset.

She dug through the top drawer of her desk before finding the small box she was looking for. She made her way to the lab where Hodgins was hunched over a microscope and plopped the box on the table next to him, smirking when he glanced up at her. "Thought you might want a variety."

Hodgins reached over to sift through the box of multi-colored rubber bands.

Angela sighed and sat down. "Why can't you just say something if you're upset? You have no trouble ranting about the government and how much they piss you off so I'm not sure-"

"Maybe it's something I don't want to talk about." He said quickly, a pained look on his face. "Something I can't talk about."

She looked down and saw that his fingers were tangled in the rubber bands, fiddling with them nervously. Without even thinking about it, her own hands came up to join his, carefully pulling the colorful bands away from his fingers.

"Don't shut other people out." She admonished gently. "Don't shut me out, Jack."

Finally, she'd pulled all the rubber bands away from him but kept her hand there, touching the one still around his wrist.

He turned his hand over and Angela tried to make her touch soothing, sliding across his palm slowly. She leaned closer, down over their joined hands, her brows furrowing when she noticed the red marks along his wrist.

How many times had he snapped that thing today?

"Does it hurt?" She murmured without looking up.

Angela felt his breath, warm against her forehead, quicken as her fingertips reached those marks.

"Not anymore." He whispered hoarsely.

Um...no! Because that is totally hot. Especially that scene where Angela keeps snapping it and he's all "Grrrr." and has to take a deep breath to calm himself down. Yeah, hot!!

It also could be because we have lots of lovely shots of his hands and wrists in that episode. Guh.

Hell, little ticks like that bug the hell out of me even when I'm not crushing on someone XD Besides, like you had in the fic, he's normally ranting, why indeed would he be so cryptically pissed off?

On a spare note, I really want his bling to be played on in season two. Like using it against Goodman if he gets stuck at some point. Whoo would that be fun drama.

Totally. I think he was doing it because he didn't want to have to blurt out the REAL reason he didn't want to go. I also liked the idea that if something was bothering him, other than all the conspiracies and stuff, he'd be less willing to share it.

I can't believe they haven't brought that back up. I've always wondered why. We know Brennan and Goodman don't know and the others have sworn they wouldn't say anything but still, it'd be an intersting episode.

Well yea, that got addressed. Something he couldn't just openly rant on. She wasn't supposed to find out- Zack blew it.

They brought it back up in a couple quiet ways. The one I remember most was something when booth was ordering the hooker in LA. Something to the effect of "Hey, how come I don't get to go on these trips?" and Booth says "becaus you have a significantly larger weekly allowance than the rest of us." Something to that effect, I could look it up.

Something else too, I think, but it's stragely not jumping to mind.

Yeah, I think in that episode he was talking about how their weekly allowance was higher than his when they were in the field. because remember in the 'Man in the Bear' episode when Brennan teased him about getting more money than him for her daily allowance from The Jeffersonian. Remember she says "I don't have a limit." So that's what I think he was talking about there.

I need to go back and watch all this past season. Pay more attention to Hodgins and Angela in the earlier episodes. Hehe.

Could be. I dont know, I like to think that it was a reference back XD I swear ther was another reference but it's just not comming to me.

And to be honest, I dont think it was Hodgela ey right off. I think they had it there as a possibility due to both being half normal and lod fans of the opposite gender (because from the begining I was saying that I could see them hooking up) but, well, keep in mind Angela had a boyfriend she seemed fairly comitted to (until recently). And Hodgins had that girl visit him in the Christmas episode.

Additionally, the writers dont have the whole season necessarily mapped out- I remember reading an interview around the time Bones got picked up for its second season, and the writers were just getting into the finale script.

I know that I was so focused on the Booth/Brennan aspect of the show when it first started and as it started to get along in the season I was like "wait! these supporting characters are awesome too!" So, I meant that I need to go back and watch some earlier episodes and not just be focused on B/B. :)

(Booth's humor amuses me but I actually find Tempe dry after so long XD I like the Hot Blooded moments, but the squints and booth are so much more colorful.)

Hehehe. It's such a testament to the show on how good ALL the characters are. I know a lot of people who were fans of DB watched because of him and then stayed for the great show. :)

Yeah! There needs to be more Squints and Booth interaction. That's always fun. :)

i've been waiting for that ever since Hodgins shot him that "oh no you di'n't!" when Booth made that "toy car" quip. i'm like "wuh oh. there's gonna be a throwdown. Grease-style." cos i'm thinking Booth is a little Dirk Pitt with his classic cars...i mean, granted, you ain't gonna get rich being an FBI agent, but i would imagine he's creative with his investments...even if he can't have an entire hangar full of 'em...

I imagine Booth is the kind to buy the run down, old cars for cheap and gradually work them up pretty (well, like Grease XD). Hodgins seems like he'd go to car shows to splurge on a sexy new baby every year as a birthday gift to himself XD

oh definitely with the work-em-up. can't remember if Dirk restored them or just collected them...tho' i think Clive Cussler himself actually restored them. at least before he got super-rich.

(of course, this could make absolutely no sense if you don't read Cussler's books... :op)


oh car shows. never thought i'd miss them, i hated them so much when my parents went to them all the time when i was kid and dragged me along...but yeah, definitely see Jack doing the "annnd, this one is coming home with MEEE."

the mental image is now developing from the stew and it's very funny. Angela gets to be the scarf-thrower. *giggle*

LOL I grew up around cars and Nascar etc. so I love car shows. My Dad is a big guy in the automechanics union so he ends up judging engine teardown competitions and things like that. (Which is fun because I get free soda and men bow to me when I say that I'm Bob Lessmann's kid. XD)
